Default New Port open in St. Martin???

We are sailing on the 4/01/01 Grand and have heard that the new dock in St. Martin has been opened and the Grand has been docking there. I wanted to confirm this with someone who has been on recently. Any other info about this port would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance (only 51 days left)

Mark

Yes, the new port has been open. On Thursdays, if you go to the internet site for Princess, click on Ship WebCam and the Grand will show St Marten from the new pier.

Yes, she docked again yesterday in St. Martin as shown on the Princess Web cam. I understand there is a water taxi available for those who do not wish to walk or take a taxi cab into the center of Front St. for shopping, etc. It is only supposed to be a 15 minute walk into the prime shopping area but the area is still under construction so there may be obstacles.

Yes! The new cruise terminal is open in St. Maarten and the Grand is docking there. Just got back from a cruise on the Grand and we docked in St. Maarten at the new terminal. It is a beautiful yellow building, lots of plants and flowers, and a short walk from Avis if you're thinking of renting a car. Have a great time !

Sue thank you for the insite and if there is any other info you could give me regarding this cruise and the ports you went to I would greatly appreciate it.
Are you going to be posting any pictures from you cruise?

Returned from the Grand on 2/11 and agree with Sue that the docking in St. Martin is good. We took that water taxi for $5. We heard all different amounts of time it took to walk into town anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes so don't know who was right but there are tons of cabs to give you a ride if you walk to the road so it is easy to get into town no matter which way you go. Many people commented that the prices over-all in St. Martin were cheaper that in St. Thomas.
