I'm planning to take a 14 day Alaskan Cruise/Tour this summer with my wife and two children ages 12 and 14 and am trying to decide between Celebrity, RCCL, HAL and Princess. Any input would be appreciated.
Well Princess and HAL both have fabulous reputations for the Alaska cruise & land tour itineraries. RCI and Celebrity are both newer in the market, but I did sail RCI on the Legend of the Seas in its inagural season and it was wonderful. I believe they have also added Land Tours for you to choose as well. RCI offers a great program for the teens, adequate cabin size and good entertainment. I would seriously start looking at a RCI ship. Why don't you start comparing ship to ship and date & schedule of itinerary. I personally like the newer ships with the enclosed pool, even in Alaska, the kids would love to be able to go swimming. This is a very good family vacation.
In response to a passing comment about a possible trip to Alaska, my travel agent advised me to forget Celebrity and stick with Princess because Princess has a well-established tour operation.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., the parent of both Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, is starting a new tour operation in Alaska this year that will serve both lines. Of course, it might take a year or two to work out the kinks that are inevitable in the new product.
