my wife and myself are traveling on the dawn princess on 3-24-01. We are interestedin info on the ports and what excursions are good. We are in our late 20's. Anyone else going would like to hear from you
I'm on the same cruise, so I hope to meet you and your wife aboard the ship! BTW, did you post in the "Let's Meet on Board" section? If not, please do!
In six prior cruises, I have never had a bad experience with a Princess shore excursion. Princess goes to great pains to make sure that the descriptions in the "Adventures Ashore" booklet are accurate, even dispatching members on the cruise staff on excursions to verify that they do conform to the descriptions. My recommendation is to read the descriptions carefully, believe them, and select whatever is most of interest to you.
The only islands that I have visited before are Barbados and St. Thomas. On my last visit to Barbados, I took the relatively new tour of "Orchid World and Tea at Sunbury Plantation" (tour BGI-K) -- which was very interesting and enjoyable. This time around, I opted for the "Barbados Five-Star Catamaran & Lunch" (Tour BGI-S) to get a different perspective on the island. On St. Thomas, I'm taking the "Champagne Catamaran Sailaway to St. John" (Tour STT-R) for the third time because my past experience is that this tour is well worth the price. On the other islands, I have opted for the "Trindidad Highlights & Monastery" (Tour POS-C) in Trinidad, the "Best of Antigua" (Tour ANU-A) on Antigua, and the "British Virgin Islands by Land and Sea" (Tour E) on Tortola because these tours seem to match my interests. This combination should provide a reasonable blend of education and fun, along with reasonable separation of the two days out in the sun.
