I've never experienced this type of dining outside the framework of the all-inclusive cruise price. What is the appropriate tip where the added cost is $8.00 per person. Do you not tip then, tip on the $8.00, or tip on the value of the meal? I'm sailing on the Sea Princess in May, and I'd love to have guidance from someone who has done this before.
For tipping, it will depend upon when you cruise. If Personal Choice Dining has been started, then you will be automatically charged $6.50 per person, per day to your shipboard account. You then need to tip the cabin steward in cash at the end of the week or by getting a receipt from any bar and putting in an envelope for him/her. The bar staff can charge your cabin account any amount you tell them to and then they'll give you a receipt to give the steward.
