We are on the Norwegian fjords cruise out of Dover July 22. My husband is concerned about the foot and mouth problem even tho does not affect humans. Has anyone heard anthing from Princess about this? Or your travel agent?
On CruiseNewsDaily the other week, Alan Wilson contacted the cruise lines about the meat (mad cow), and the major cruise lines (including Princess) stated that all their meats are from the US, USDA inspected.
Now, I know you asked about hoof and mouth disease, I have seen that some trails, etc in the countryside are closed, and that in some places, like Ireland and Scotland, incoming cars are inspected, somehow disinfected, as are the passengers (I think people just have to step on a pad of some kind).
Have seen no word from any of the cruise lines specifically about this.
We are booked on the Royal Princess for the Aug 3, 2001, British Isles cruise. The word I am getting consistently from friends in the UK is that all major attractions that we are likely to be touring will be open and available for tours. Some precautionary measures may be in place but they should in no way interfere with the enjoyment of the cruise or prevent access to historical sites.
Take care and enjoy the cruise.
