Default Buying wine before boarding

Cruising on the Grand Princess on the 17th from Fort Lauderdale. Think I read that there is Liquor store/mart right there in the port area so that you can stock up before boarding. Is this true. Saves us on a bunch of heavy carry-ons with the airline if it is true. Please respond. Thanks!

Yes but you miss the adventure. I am bringing a double magnum of Grgich Chardonay. And I WILL get it there somehow! The waiters probably won't be happy to see me!Karen wrote:

I'm sailing June 3 on the Grand...have learned from others on this board that there is a Publix/Eckerds/Liquor store all within a 15 minute walk from the ship. They recommend taking a $5 taxi ride back to the ship with your purchases. I've heard there is a small liquor vendor there at the port with limited selection. We're going to board and get settled in, then head back out to stock up on "necessary provisions!" I think it'll definitely be worth the trouble and like you pointed out, will lighten the carry-on load on the plane!

Here we go again Karen. I f you didn't get may answer on the other board here it is again. I just hope for your sake they have stocked some good wine since I was there a little over a month ago.

Liquor. We didn’t take much with us thanks to the good members of the various boards who informed us there was a Duty free liquor store in the terminal at FLL. Actually it was only about a hundred feet from the gangway (the Sea Princsess). The store had a basic selection of liquor and a very poor selection of wine. One liter of Jack Daniels was $20. A liter of Beefeaters Gin cost us $15. They did have a name brand of Vodka on sale for $10. Sorry, no beer. About one hour before sailing time (5pm) we picked up our purchase from a desk set up about twenty feet from the gangway. One of our group “Six pack Bob”, who only drinks beer, along with a friend caught a taxi to a local store and picked up two cases of Bud. They walked aboard, each with a case over his shoulder. No problem!
