Mark,

I had the same concern as you so we chose a AD category minisuite on the Emerald Deck (we're sailing on the Grand on 7/29). We wanted the larger space that the minisuite provides but we were really concerned about the lack of privacy on the balcony from above. I think going with the AD will give us what we want because the balcony appears to be private from above and we get more room inside than a BC category room has.

Anyone else stayed in an AD stateroom on the Grand? I'd love to hear your comments.

Sheila,

FYI, in the minisuites on the Emerald Deck of MV Grand Princess, about 2/3 of the balcony is under the balcony above. The remaining 1/3 extends beyond the balcony above.

We have stayed twice in the cat "AD" and they are great!

Enjoy your trip and if you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. We have been on The Grand 4 times with the last time being last month when they eliminated the butlers. The ship and service is still great!

I am planning my first cruise on the Grand Bahama in November and was looking at the mini suites on the emerald deck. It looks like they are in the back of the boat which I heard is bouncier then the middle of the ship. Also the rest of the emerald deck looks like it is blocked by lifeboats. Can any one help me. Also how big are the regular rooms with balcony as opped to mini suite>

Linda,

MV Grand Princess, at 109,000 tons, is not going to "bounce" very much even in relatively rough seas. Nonetheless, you might want to consider the a cabin located amidships on the Dolphin Deck -- where all outside cabins are minisuites -- if the possibility of motion is a concern.

Norm.
