Has anybody used tour guides in Rome, Venice, or Naples -- instead of ship excursions. If so, are there any recommendations? what were your experiences?

We've pre arranged our own driver/guide in some of the Med. ports with excellent results! Arranged it easily through Port Promotions in Florida. www.portpromo.com.
Although I dont think u need a guide in Venice.. get a guide book, put on good walking shoes, and away u go.
