Does anyone have any information about the Best Western Marina on 17th Street Ft. Lauderdale. I have heard a few negative remarks and would like to know some specifics if anyone knows about this hotel. It seemed to be located well and priced reasonable for one night stay. Please help if you can.
We've stayed twice at the BW Marina-it's fifties type minimal accomodations, center courtyard has funky palapa bar, restaurant is pretty awful. Exterior corridors, so if you can get a room on the marina side you can drag chairs out at 5 AM and watch the Grand back into her berth looking lilke a gigantic Las Vegas shopping cart. Last time we were they they failed to mention until after we checked in that the water had been turned off due to a break in the main line--we wound up hauling water in a wastebasket from the canal by the parking lot to fill the toilet tank. There is a complimentary shuttle to the cruise dock but there are long lines so you might want to take a cab. This is a motel for the very flexible and uncritical person.
Hi Mcathy, We stayed there in March, there are many better hotels in the area than this one. It is old, not the cleanest place and has one of the best views of the harbour. I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Jake
If you booked it yourself you can cancel it anytime up to the late afternoon of the day you're scheduled to arrive. and you should have no trouble getting another hotel room if you're traveling in the summer or fall, the off season in South Florida.
The Renaissance Hotel just opened and has really good rates in comparison to some of the hotels offered by Princess. It's 2 minutes to the dock from the hotel. We got a concierge level room for 40% less than the cost of a standard room at Embassy Suites.
