We found that our cabin assignment is now posted on the Princess website for our upcoming Royal Princess cruise. We didn't get upgraded and I could care less. We picked a very nice category to sail in and we got an excellent cabin in that category. I have been upgraded twice but until I get upgraded to a suite, what I pay for is just fine for me.
I'm told it's possible, but I'm really the kiss of death when it comes to upgrades. Since 1959 I've been upgraded twice. Usually what I see is what I get. that's why I never book a cabin where I would be uncomfortable.
I'm the one going with Carole and couldn't agree more. On Royal Princess, the regular cabins are exactly the same size in all the categories so why spend more just to be up higher. I was a little concerned being near the main entertainment lounge but that doesn't last all night. I think I thought upgrade wondering what we would get but I generally never get upgrades either so if I don't, no biggie. Susan and Carole will be cruisin' soon!
I've been on Plaza deck before on Royal and I never heard a thing. The entire deck above us is entertainment, but older people are more inclined to sail longer cruises and they usually aren't the biggest party animals in the world. Again like us. After all the Broadway we're doing pre-cruise we probably won't even want to go to a single show.
