Default Grand Princess - Sportfishing Costa Maya

Does anyone have information on sportfishing in Costa Maya? We're sailing on the Grand Princess 11/25/01 and received information on the tours, but it doesn't say how many people are on the fishing boat, etc. If anyone has information on this tour or has done sportfishing in Costa Maya, I'd appreciate any advice or insights. Thanks!

We were in the area last May--- the bill fish season is in the spring -- there are websites that can give you an idea of what is in season that time of year -- how likely you are to catch a fish or two. The fishing was done close to shore -- between cozumel and the mayan coast-- I found some great message boards for the Riviera Maya -- you should be able to post your questions there. I wish i had some experience to share, but a tropical storm closed the ports while we were there!. Try Captain Rick's web site.

Don't know about Costa Maya sportfishing but I did a charter in Cozumel ( on my own ths past Feb. 2001 when I sailed Voyager - see details at my web site
http://www.worldlynx.net/sica/cozumel_fishing.htm ). I will be booking this fish charter in Cozumer again when I sail on Grand princess 2/10/02 -

Is there a ship sponsored fishing excursion at Costa Maya listed ? , I won't receive excursion info till latter in the year.

I'l try and paste a fishing guide chart below for the Mexican coast -

Month x Oct Nov Dec
Blue Marlin x Poor Good Good
White Marlin x Poor Poor Poor
Sailfish x Fair Poor Poor
Dolphin x Good Fair Poor
Wahoo x Good Good Excelent
Kingfish x Good Good Excelent
Tuna x Fair Fair Good
Bottomfish x Excelent Excelent Excelent
