Default EUROPEAN CRUISES

I have recently heard that Princess has reduced the fares on the Golden Princes Mediterranean cruise in 2002 from Barceloma to Istanbu., 12 day. They had alread changed the itenerary from Barceloma to Istanbu to Barceloma to Venus there by staying away from the Middle East countries. This change apparently has not stop the cancellations and hence Princess started the fare reduction. In the past 4 weeks Princess has made two (2) reductions in fares.

Does anybody have any information which would indicate that if Princess does not fill the Golden with their break even number of passengers that they may cancell the entire 2002 European season. If princess does not have the bookings i can not believe that they would still complete the sailings.

I booked a June 2002 sailing while I was on the Grand 2001. I have to make arrangements for my own air and have second and possible third thoughts that this sailing is not going to happen.

Any information, thoughts, or comments would be appreciated.

Seymour,

I really don't know where you are hearing these rumors, as I have not heard or seen anything to substantiate them. My guess is that MV [i] Golden Princess will sail on the modified (Barcelona to Venice or Venice to Barcelona) itinerary, as currently planned, unless something very drastic happens between now and next summer. It takes a lot of work to coordinate the ports of call on a ship's schedule, so you can be sure that no cruise line is going to revise schedules unless there's a compelling reason to do so.

I'm actually quite surprised that the ship is not calling in Turkey, as Turkey is not an arab country -- but a lot of Americans don't seem to understand that fact, so it is possible that the Turkish ports did trigger some cancellations.

Have a great cruise!

Norm.

I understand the original poster's point due tot he fact that Princess has indeed cancelled its Baltic/Scandinavia cruises for next summer while redeploying the Regal to Alaska.

Because of this, I AM concerned about my August booking on the Royal. Is it in danger of being cancelled too. They are currently offering a 2 for 1 rate for past passengers. The price is similar to that of the Golden Med for a similar cat cabin.

So I wonder what will happen...
