Has anyone been on board since they had put their new policy into place?
If so, how does it work when you return to the ship? Are they doing package checks to make sure you are not taking liquor aboard?
Thank you very much!
Packed liquor in checked bags, no problem. Brought liqour on board from Princess Cays, Grand Caymen and Cozumel. Simply wrapped bottle in pool towel and put in our shopping bag. Was not searched. At worst, any liquor found will be returned at the end of cruise. They are looking for more important things than booze.
I got another email back from Princess. They say that customs won't permit us to bring liquor on board. When I contacted customs they said they are only interested in the liquor we bring back to the US. When I sent an email to Princess regarding the US Customs respnse I questioned what law prevents us from purchasing liquor for onboard entertaining. They could not give me an answer and just said to call the 800 number. I just wish they would be honest and consistantly give the answer that it is being done to increase their revenue.
We will pack our martinis and manhattens in our luggage. In the
past we brought our bottles in our carry-on luggage. If they try to take it away I'll make a fuss like you can't believe.
We have never carried our drinks in to common areas, but I don't
think I should be forced to travel to the nearest bar or call room service to have drinks delivered while I'm dressing for dinner.
We always have a drink in the room before dinner and don't want to be bothered with the inconvienence of having to get drinks on Princess' schedule. I don't appreciate having the whens and hows of cocktailing being dictated to me.
Now, I've read alot about some ships being more diligent than others. Does anyone know how the Royal is handling this?
I'm afraid to tell my in-laws of this new change - they'll go through the roof (!!!)
