Default Balcony Cabins

I've never been in a balcony cabin - booked on Grand/Dolphin Deck. (Port side) I've read conflicting information about balconies. Can you get sun on these balconies, or ae they too enclosed for that??? It's hard to telll from the pictures.

Also - are these balconies (on the dolphin deck) the same size as the "oversize" balconies on the Caribe deck? I assume so since these are mini suites, but want to confirm.

Although i am also a newbie, I have read numerous reviews of the Grand and actually seen pictures of the dolphin deck balcony's on the internnet. These balcony's are completely open from above and they can be seen by people looking over the sides of their balcony's above them.
Here is a good site for information on the Grand. The very last page of this shows the pictures of the balcony's

copy and past to your address line
When are you going? we are going 2/10/02
Hope this helps!

We sailed the Grand 9/9 in a mini-suite on Dolphin deck. No problem sunbathing, Dolphin verandas are the "furthest" out of the layered decks. (Makes for more sun, but less privacy {grin}).

It *did* have smaller balconies than Caribe; you trade off the extra balcony space for a more roomy interior in the mini-suite. Our veranda was roomy enough for a dining-type table, 4 chairs (two semi-reclining), and two small table/footstools. I understand some people request lounge chairs to replace the regular chairs.

Hi Kathy,

The Dolphin Deck balconies are exposed to the sun AND upper levels so it all depends on your preferences. If you prefer more privacy then choose a higher deck such as the Aloha or Baja since these deck's balconies are not exposed. If a larger deck is more important, then the Caribe and Dolphin decks are the way to go.

Either way you'll LOVE the Grand, she's our favorite!
