I heard the butler service was discontinued. If I remember, the bar was filled with water and some sodas regularly. Stayed in the penthouse suite, in May of 2000.If you want privacy, you won't get it. Whoever laid out the plans on that ship did a terrible job. Had a huge balcony, but never wanted to go out there, because people above were always peering down!
It has nothing to do with being paranoid. But when you pay a lot of money for a
penthouse suite, you expect a little privacy. One night we couldnt't even sit out on
our balcony because the people above were smoking, partying, and so loud we couldn't even hear ourselves talk. When you pay that kind of money, you expect just a little bit of special treatment! If I wanted to be with smoking, loud, roudy people,I would have gone on carnival!!!

That's about the best one-line summary I have heard regarding MV Grand Princess. The company discovered the missteps too late, and too many of them were too deeply entrenched in the design to be rectifiable even on the newer ships. The smaller MV Sun Princess, MV Dawn Princess, MV Sea Princess, and MV Ocean Princess have a far superior design.
Thank you for agreeing with me. We knew about this layout, but our travel agent kept trying to assure us that it would not even be noticeable! Well it was! That is why we are booked on the ocean princess in April,in a suite in the aft portion of this ship. We truly value our privacy!
