Just back from a fabulous Thanksgiving week on the Golden. Cruisemates and Kuki will love the Golden for New Years. A few things that really stood out ...
Fresh flowers on the dining room tables. Nice touch.
Art, Art, Art! It is everywhere and awesome! You could spend hours looking at it.
The library was packed with brand new, wide selection of books. Also had 3 shelves of kid's picture books and stories.
Outstanding cruise director. Alistair, who was very visible at all times and very involved with passengers activities. Loved him.
Horse race gambling was a serious event. Ship was plastered with posters, etc. all week getting ready for the final race. Great to see so much enthudiasm for this eevent.
Piano bar in lobby was always crowded due to the great entertaimnment..don't miss it.
Kid's program was the best we have had on all 17 of our cruises. Our kids are 8 and 12 so can't comment on the younger age groups. They were busy with different and engaging activities. Absolutely loved it! They even had a kids casino night with fake chips and prizes.
Personal choice dining is really a great way to go. Flexible and accomodating. Head waiters work really hard to keep everyone happy. Food was awesome and special orders were accomodated with no problem. Impressive.
Casino paid out well (attn: kuki!) Even I won $100 on the slots. One passenger won $11,000 on the slots this week. Because the crowd was a bit older and tended to go to bed early, the casino was not crowded after 9pm and the dealers were friendly and fun.
Good drinks! Prices were reasonable and alcohol content evident!
We were on the Grand 3 years ago and the ship is similar but service noteably better. Would sail her again in a minute! We were offered an extra week for $199 each. Couldn't do it this time but be prepared for those of you going. What a deal to stay on board for another week for such a low rate.
