Go to the cruisemates web site (www.cruisemates.com) and then click on "cruise reviews", then on "princess" and check out the Golden reviews. The last time I looked there were several, the most recent being the ones by Kuki and myself on the New Years cruise beginning Dec. 29th. The two kind of supplement each other.
We returned from Golden last week (& are having serious withdrawal!) One of the things we enjoyed doing was going up to Skywalkers between 3 - 4 p.m. and enjoying the view. There was usually no one there. The bar is not open, so if you would like a drink, you can buy one right downstairs at the outdoor bar before going up. We even thought of taking appetizers from Horizons up there for our own little happy hour, but we never did get around to it. It was a most peaceful, enjoyable time of day.
Just returned from Golden . . . Beautiful ship!Have you
booked yet? I reccomend highly getting a balcony. Worth every
The back of the ship was our favourite place to hang out. It was rarely busy. We lounged by the hot tubs and there was a pool
a few stairs away to cool off.
If you're going in the next few weeks and you're using personal
choice dining, be sure to reserve a table at Bernini's with Adrian
from Mexico. He's a great waiter! The waiters won't speak to you
much unless you let them know you're interested in them personally.
Also we went to Sabbatini's for both a dinner and a brunch. We
enjoyed both very much.As far as being worth it or not; I think it
depends on whether you can afford it or not. If you can; you will
if you can't; you might not.
Room service was great. Just remember you can order anything you want for breakfast. . . Just be sure to be detailed. i.e. pancakes
The shows were all very good. I enjoyed especially Billy Vader
(comedian) and the magic show. All the musicians were excellent.
As far as the islands were concerned, we got our own taxi. Try and find a friendly driver. If yiu do .he/she will give you a private tour way
cheaper then the ship will.
If you're short on cash, remember to get a packed lunch from the ship because eating on the beach is very expensive.
Hope this helps. I know you'll have a great time!
