Default Upgrade Question

Hi

We booked the cheapest inside cabin on a guarentee for our cruise to Alaska in June. It was really fun to check the cruise personalizer this week and see we were assigned a cabin in the highest inside category on the 'Aloha' deck. However, obviously any further upgrade to an outside would be so amazing. Is there any further chance now that an actual cabin assignment has appeared? And, is there any real advantage to a higher inside cabin than to a lower one? It's kind of fun to see the upgrade, but it doesn't seem to be a real advantage.

Thanks,
Rachel

There's a small chance you could be upgraded again. Aloha deck puts up you close to the pools & hot tubs, and Horizon Court... a great upgrade IMHO... the rooms are the same, but you have MUCH better room location now than being way down at the bow in Cat N.

Princess will not usually upgrade you to another catagory. If you book a low catagory inside, you can be upgraded to the highest inside catagory, but not usually to a cheaper outside. Same thing goes if you book a cheap outside. Usually no upgrade to a balcony cabin. The higher decks are more expensive but better you should be in the center of the ship. Less movement if you have rough seas. This usually won't apply to Alaska since there are rarely rough waters there. Have a great cruise! Alaska is beautiful.

We booked BD balcony, and our cabin is BB on the Caribe deck, Grand, sailing April7 to W. Carib. Is this an upgrade? Can you request an upgrade at check-in, or how do you go about it? Anxious for your answer!! Gloria

Yes it is an upgrade, especially since the Balconies on Caribe Deck are twice as big as Cat. B cabins on the other decks. Lucky you!!!

Thanks, Ted! We're looking forward to a larger balcony, we plan to spend a lot of time on it instead of around the pool on sea days. Hope we get sun on the balcony for sunbathing!
