Knowing it's okay to bring your own wine on board, should we put it in checked or carry-on? Most posts I see recommend checked, but will the x-ray make them think it's perhaps liquor and not wine and then they'll want to break our locks and cable ties we're using on our checked bags? In that case, perhaps wine in carry-on would be better since it's allowed. Advice please. We're not flying at all.
Just how much wine are you talking about. I would think a bottle or 2 in your carry-on would be fine, especially since you don't have to fly, just don't push it. We had no problem bring back a 6 pack of beer from a port, was asked if we had alochol and we said just beer and they let us take it onboard?
Good luck and have a great cruise!
I'm not going to tell you it's right or allowed , but I will relate this story. We boarded Ocean Princess just a few months ago(after the new security rules). The gang(and I mean gang) behind us on line was a party group for sure . One guy had two shopping bags full of wine, one had two shopping bags full of liquor, one had two shopping bags full of mixers and one had six twelve packs of beer. They had it totally out in the open and no one said a thing.
Note, they had no other carry ons. Maybe it just is a matter of how you go about it.
We just got back from Sun Princess and had no problems bringing on wine or beer at any port in our carry ons. They saw it and did not care as long as it is not liquor. I would not take the cahnce of putting it in your lugage, the way that the luggage gets thrown around!! Our travel agent sent Princess wine to our rooms (eihgt of us). We took two bottles of wine to dinner almost every night and they did not charge a cork fee. Maybe because it was thier wine!!kg
