We will be staying the day in San Juan at the end of our Dawn Princess cruise 4/20 as our flight is not until 5:25pm. I have a couple of questions.
How much time should we allow for transport to the airport?
What is the best plan of action? Go to the airport and check our bags in the morning, then explore the city? Get a day-long cab/tour (did this type of thing 11 years ago, don't remember the details) and just go from the ship? Other?
What are some of the places to see besides El Morro?
I recommend a ship's tour since they will take your luggage along with you and deliver you to the airport at the end of the trip. We finally got to see the Rain Forest on our last visit and enjoyed it. Don't know about going to the airport in the morning and dropping your luggage off. With all the new security options, that may no longer be an option. You might also be able to store your luggage at Barrachina (a local store in OSJ that claims to have originated the Pina Colada) and do some sightseeing in Old and New San Juan, or the Bacardi Plant (you can do that on your own for considerably less than the formal excursions charge).
