Hi, We just booked on the Grand for Oct and would like to know the fun stuff and games they have on board, and if there poker in the card room, or just bridge? Do they have backgammon boards? Do they have "theme" nights. Thanks for your help.
Island Night is fun. Take some tropical clothes if you have them or are planning to shop for the cruise. Many were dressed in tropical attire for dinner, then there is a great party at the aft adult pool later in the evening. Don't miss it.
2 formal nights. On the W. Carib itinerary we had, Tues was formal & a sea day. The Captains Welcome Aboard party was in the Atrium from 5-7 (approx time) with free drinks before dinner.
Fri was the 2nd formal night, which is also a shore day (Cozumel) & makes for a hectic day! The captains circle party is that evening as well for members, and the champagne waterfall tower is at midnight that night.
There are some very good shows, some are repeated and some one night only. Take note in the Princess Patter for the daily schedule. Someone told me to take a hi-liter to mark the activities you want to do in the PP, and it was a real help. There are dance lessons, bingo, a scavenger hunt, trivia games, etc during the day as well as pool games. Take the PP with you when you leave your room or you'll miss something!! Also, get a small map of the ship from any crew member when you board on Sun, if you haven't been on a grand class ship you will need the map for sure!
Can't say if they have poker as an organized game, but am sure you can get one up.. The card/game room is open for anything. I noticed card games being played at the tables on the pool deck as well. There are many board games on the shelves.
Forgot to mention the Cooking Demo & Galley Tour on Sat AM. Check the PP for details. It is quite amazing to see the galley & hear the numbers. Sit in the front and you may get a sample of what Chef Josef cooks!!
Cookie... There are tons of games and fun activities aboard whether you like to participate or just watch. On several afternoons around Neptune's Reef and Pool, there are The Grand Princess Pool Olympics, the Wet, Wild Wacky Pool Games, and The Grand Princess Flip, Flop & Fly.
This is a photo of a "t-shirt swapping relay" in the Olympics. Each team member had to swim a lap of the pool and then pass the t-shirt to the next member. As you can see, sometimes more is lost than the t-shirt. (grins)
