Does any one know if the cruise line will reimburse you for port charges when they "skip" an island? We are scheduled on the Sea Princess on 2/1 and according to this board, we will not be stopping La Guaira.
Thanks very much!
I have never seen the cruise line give you back any port charges. Sometimes they give you an onboard credit, but they are not obligated to. In their brochures, they say that itineraries are subject to change.
We were refunded less than $2/pp when they had to skip Huatelco because the water was too rough for the tenders. Of course that was a small port and others might be higher. Compared to the other costs associated with a cruise, port costs are neglibible.
We also got some money back when we had to skip Princess Cays on Golden Princess, don't remember exactly how much, but it was a little bit back. Have heard others that have skipped ports and get nothing back, so you'll just have to see, possibly ask your travel agent, since you already know you will be missing a port.
