We're going to be in Puerto Vallarta on March 4th. Could you pleeease tell me what time you were able to get off the Star? We have a reservation for a whale watching trip and need to get to Marina Los Pienes by 8:45am. Since we've never been to PV before, we're not sure how easy it would be to 1- walk there in time or 2 - grab a taxi along with everyone else coming off the ship. I was hoping for a third alternative, like arranging for someone to pick us up and drop us off at the marina and return us to the ship, after we return to the marina.
Shar, on Sea Princess, we woke up there, so I think it's going to be a bit of a rush but you should be able to make it.
The terminal in PV is great ... you just walk off the ship, walk about 75 feet, and they have a cul-de-sac setting where the taxis pull up. You'll want to grab one of the small yellow ones ... the white vans just go into town (drop you near the cathedral).
We have a BD balcony guarantee booked, so no cabin number yet. Hope we can meet you on board.
By the way, check out my review of the Sea Princess and scroll down to excursions -- gives you a great idea of things to do (and cheap). This will be our 3rd or 4th time down, so we got it down pat. :-)
Oh, I just checked weather yesterday, which reminded me to remind you, to bring two small travel umbrellas (we got ours at Walmart a couple years ago for about $7 a piece.)
Especially in Puerto Vallarta, it's very humid. On our first time, we got hit with afternoon rain. Our best purchase ever was a backpack -- great for things like the umbrella (and hauling back any purchases).
We just got off the Star on Saturday, 2/1. We arrived in Puerto Vallarta early on Tuesday morning, and I believe that people were able to get off around 8:00 AM. You should have no trouble getting a taxi.
