My wife and I tried the Aqua Bike. It is a 2 seater that you pedal and steer. We had a little trouble trying to turn around but were finally able to get back to the starting point. Thought we would end up back at the ship ()

Just some advice: don't try the aqua bike unless you have lots of energy to burn - it exhausted us! My personal favorite: float - relax and enjoy!

I can't believe they don't have 'jet ski' type toys.

Louise,
We rented a jetski in St.Maarten, knowing that there weren't any in Princess Cays.
Take the water taxi to the downtown pier and you'll see them right there on the beach.
Have the time of your life!!

Leaving on April 12 on the Golden (can't wait!!!) but have never been to St. Martin. How do the water taxis work and where do you get them?? Do they take you to Orient Beach or where to? Do they 'run' at certain times (want to make sure we get back to the ship on time!!). How far from where the ship docks to the shopping areas? We are planning on buying some liquor on St. Martins as we have read that it is less expensive than at St. Thomas. However we don't want to have to carry it around all day while we go the the beach etc so is it feasible to buy it and take it back to the ship or is it quite a distance from the shopping area to where the ship docks? Thanks for any info!!!

Orient Beach is on the opposite side of the island from where Princess docks....docks in Phillipsburg (Dutch side) and Orient Beach is on the French side. In order to get there, you will have to take some sort of conveyance, i.e. taxi, bus, etc. We took the Orient Beach excursion from the ship in 1999...it was great! My friend just got off the Golden today and said Orient Beach was still heavenly. A word of caution: the restrooms at Orient Beach where Princess excursions go to is unisex. And in some of the stalls, the seats are missing.

On this excursion, when the bus is coming back, ask to be left in town to shop. It's no problem. From there, you can either walk back to the ship or take a cab if you are tired.
