Someone back from the Sea Princess reported that they were charged a fee when ordering other than what was on the printed door hanger tag that is provided. I had heard that one could order anything that was being served in the dining room for room service by just writing it in on that tag. However, this person just requested hot oatmeal and saw a $16 charge issued. I can see tipping the person that brought the meals a few bucks but I never would have expected a charge like this. Is this the normal procedure or did someone make a mistake?
Frank.. I read it, but I think it would have to be a misunderstanding. Possibly a charge for charge made in error from another pax, and the writer couldn't account for it, other than to think it was for room service.
This had to be a mistake. I just got off the Sea Princess earlier this month. One afternoon I just wanted some snacks, which are not listed anywhere on the menu. I called and they said they would put a tray together for me. No problem, just tipped the room service person and never saw a charge. If there is going to be a charge, they always have you sign the bill when they deliver the tray.
Thanks to all for reaffirming this. I thought maybe we saw another change in Princess policy. I guess they discourage people from ordering anything other than what is preprinted on those cards by not printing such information and keeping this pretty much a secret.
