I'm planning on parking there April 3 for the Coral Princess sailing. You mentioned in a recent posting that you like the security at the pier better than at Amerisuites.
Could you give me a little more info - you park it yourself ... then can you use the "club" to secure it and lock the doors? When you pay for it at the end of the cruise, can you use a credit card or does it have to be cash?
Any suggestions as to how you get into the pier area and then the parking area would be appreciated. Or any tips at all re this.
I cruise the Emerald Princess, Eastern Caribbean on April 16, 2012
The Coral should be at Pier 2... right adjacent to the North Port Garage. Enter the port through the 17th Street entrance, near the Convention Center. Pass through the Port entrance security check and make the first left into the Pier/Convention Center complex.
DO NOT veer left toward the ticket booths. Go to the right, down, and head toward the luggage drop off location at the pier. Give your luggage to the waiting porters and let your passengers out.
Exit in the direction you came in. In short order you'll see a "U" Turn sign. Make the "U" and you'll once again be heading toward the ticket booths. This time, go left to the booths, get a ticket and continue up into the garage. Park, lock your car and use whatever other security device you have. There are stairs and an elevator to take you back down to the street (pier) level.
You pay, cash only, on your return. Be sure to take your parking ticket with you.
On your return, after you've collected your luggage and cleared customs, ask a porter to take you and your luggage to the car pickup point at the pier. (Be sure to spring for a couple of bucks and get a porter to take you out to the pick up point. Otherwise, you'll wander aimlessly for some time, clogging the exit for others and really delay your own exit and that of others too.)
Leave your traveling companion there with the luggage. You retrace your steps, up the elevator or stairs, get your car, drive back down to the toll booths (it is a multi level garage)... pay the parking fee, AGAIN make the "U" turn, and this time again go to the right, down towards the pier, go to the car baggage pickup area and get your luggage and waiting companion(s).
It may sound a bit complicated, but it is really quite simple and there are ample signs.
