I just got off the Grand yesterday and we missed Princess Cay and Costa Maya last week. I heard from the crew that they missed Princess Cay the week before also. It's really a crap shoot because of the cold front causing alot of wind.
On the Grand last year, we missed Princess Cays. My friend on the Golden two weeks ago also missed the Princess Cays. Usually, in ports where the ship can dock, weather is not as much of a factor. Usually, the ship docks at Costa Maya, not tender, so most times you will be able to stop there.
We did make the stop last week on the Golden. Thursday afternoon and evening the seas were a little rough. Our waiter said that if it didn't calm down that we wouldn't stop. However it was very calm and we did make it a shore. The temp was 81 but the water was COLD. It really is a pretty place. I can't say that the food was good. If we go again we will just eat back on the ship. However the firut carving is really neat to watch. The head instructor asked my daughter what she wanted carved and he made her a cat from a honeydew melon. We tried to give it back but his insitisted that she keep it. She thought that it was neat.
