We are taking a cruise to the Caribbean for a family reunion. My wife and I were going to travel to China and Hong Kong but we cancelled our trip because of the SARS outbreak… although we still have our Chinese visas in our passports.
-Will that be a problem?
-Have you heard/seen someone having troubles (especially in the islands) because of this?
-Do they check you passports when you disembark at the islands?
i do not think it will be a problem. The cruise line only checks your passport when you board for the first time, and when the ship goes through immigration and customs when it travels to non US islands. I don't think the chinese visa's will pose a problem, unless you have traveled to China within 2 weeks before your departure, because that seems to be the incubation period. You do not have to show your passport to get on and off the ship - just your cruise card.
