I heard about this incident on CNN while we were cruising but didn't know
about the outcome until now. Glad we had a peaceful and fun cruise:
California woman indicted for cruise ship threats

Honolulu (ap) -- A federal grand jury has indicted a woman for leaving
threatening notes aboard a cruise ship in hopes she could cut a family trip
short and return home to her boyfriend.
Kelley Marie Ferguson, 20, of Laguna Hills, Calif., was charged Wednesday
with two counts of threatening acts of terrorism, each carrying a maximum
sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Her arraignment was set for Monday.
Authorities say Ferguson, who was vacationing with her family aboard the
Legend Of The Seas, admitted writing the notes. One included the threat, "I
have been sent on a mission to kill all Americanos abord Legend if we port
on American soil."
The notes prompted an intense FBI search for biological, chemical,
radiological and explosive weapons aboard the Royal Caribbean ship, and
interrogation of crew members and passengers.
Federal prosecutors said the hoax cost the U.S. Coast Guard alone $336,000.
Ferguson has been detained without bail since her April 25 arrest.
Her parents wouldn't even post her bail, because they figured she'd run. Obviously, the woman has problems. Her family just went on with the cruise.
She'd been involved in a controlling relationship with her boyfriend since she was 16. This was supposed to be the last vacation as a family and the father had planned for two years and put himself into debt to take his grown daughters. Apparently, Kelley was very excited about the cruise until the day before, when her boyfriend started whining about how much he was going to miss her. Her father insisted she go anyway...I guess this is her parnets "forcing" her to go. Of course, as an adult, she could have said "no, I won't go, but I'll reimburse you for what you spent on my part of the cruise". Instead she goes, terrorizes several thousand people and isn't even remorseful.
