Default Regal Princess to Canada-New England

We are going on the Regal Princess Canada-New England cruise on Oct.24th. Has anyone taken this itinerary and what tours would you reccommend?

Emma: You sail from Montreal Up the St. Laurence to Quebec city, then through Saguenay River scenic cruising , at sea, Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport, New York City, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Baltimore and end in Ft. Lauderdale. 14 days in total.

A couple of tours we really enjoyed were in Halifax, which is a beautiful city, was the trip to Peggy's Cove. In Bar Harbor the tour to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. Do not miss the great Loster lunches served in Bar Harbor. We ate at the restaurant overlooking the bay. In Quebec City we enjoyed just walking through the Old and New Town. Spectacular scenery form the magnificent hotel on the hill. If you can possibly arrange your own tours wih local drivers by all means do it. You will save a lot of money. You are going late in the season so sweaters and windbreakers will be in order. It is a wonderful trip on a fine ship. The Regal is probably on the way out so enjoy her.

Thanks for the imput. We have booked tours in New York City and Baltimore but I think we will try to do our own thing in some of the ports which appear to be walkable.

We took a land tour 2 years ago in the Maritimes (Canada, Eastern U.S.A.) from Oct.22 to Nov.10th and maybe we were lucky but no rain and sunny days and just cooling off in the evenings and also on a cruise you are usually on board by 5 - 6 PM.

Another thing I might suggest is when in Boston and you have a beautiful fall afternoon that you walk the Freedom Trail. We walked it from the Commons out to the Constitution. The nice part is that it runs through Quincy Market. You see many of the historic sites and get great exercise to boot. A word of warning is that at the time we walked it the construction (The Big Dig) was very bad but would do it again in a minute.

Portsleft: Thanks again for the imput...we will certainly try to take in the Freedom Trail.
With a name like "portsleft" you must be an avid cruiser. This will be our 20th cruise but the first on the East Coast.

We are also going on this cruise. Have been to some of the ports previously but not by ship. Did land tours. This will be our 19th cruise. We live in S. Florida so decided to do the repositioning to Ft. Lauderdale.

Yes, we love to cruise. We will be leaving on cruise # 24 on Sun Princess Oct 12th. We have sailed on Regal 3 times and will be sorry to see her leave the fleet. Canada/New England was one of our favorite trips topped only by Alaska.
