Default Panama Canal cruise

I've often heard (and read) that the longer, the older and less active the passengers are. We're excited about going to the canal. For those of you that have sailed, will the cruise be like a ghost ship by 10:30 pm????

Is there any activity at all around the pool - especially on sea days?

We're looking forward to ten days for a little R&R, but we also want to have some fun!
Just wondering. Thanks folks.

I don't think the Panama Canal cruise is a ghost ship after 10:30. One of the most fun nights is "island" night when they have a real swinging party on deck starting about 10:30 ... and age has nothing to do with it. You'll see the older folks joining right in with everyone else. Hey, it's a vacation no matter what age ... plus there will always be early birds and night owls no matter how old you are. They also have a disco that, I think, starts around 11 PM ... not too sure cuz I'm usually in the casino around that time.

As far as around the pool on sea days - sure they have activities ... for the most part kind of silly (like belly flopping) but also horse racing. Don't worry you'll have plenty to do - it will just depend on how much you want to participate in.

CruzNut

Thanks much for the info. Are you going on the 10/27 Island Princess? I've been reading posts about that one and it sounds like there's going to be a great group on board. Wish we could have hopped onboard ourselves, but the Oct. 30th Thursday departure created less scheduling problems for both of us at work.

Thanks again.

Good to Go...We are in your age bracket. Mid-late 40's. We did the full canal on the Dawn a couple of years ago. Don't worry about no fun things. We had a blast and met some wonderful people. We had all ages and I think the group from the Cruisecritic board based upon past e-mails, we are all in the same age bracket. We will coordiante a meet and greet as it gets closer so at least you will some friendly faces.

Last cruise my husband & I finished 2nd in a shuffleboard tournament. We had a blast!!!

Yes, I'm on the Panamaniacs cruise ... can't beat it - $75 onboard credit, 2 free cocktail parties, a t-shirt and who knows what else - all that is included if you book through the TA who is handling it.. And, the price went down!!! See the posting on the home page.

Don't mean to be ignorant....what is a panamaniacs cruise? We are scheduled on Island for March 5? Anxious to hear from all of you going this fall about rooms, excursions, food, etc. We are booked in C501. We are in our late fifties, but love to dance and have a good time, so it is your mental age....not in years, eh!!??

Thanks for the info. March 5 works best for us for many reasons. However we too are mentally younger than chronologically.
