Default Travel Insurance

Travel Insured International just informed me that my claim was approved on October 6th and that I should receive a check in 7 to 10 days. I faxed my claim to them on 9/29/03. (We had to leave an 18 day cruise on the Pacific Princess after 6 days due to a death in the family.) So far it sounds like they are responding well.

Eventhough the circumstances were unfortunate for you and your family its good to know that you will be compensated for your lost cruise time.

Hi Frank,
Sorry to hear you had to cut your cruise short, but its nice to know that your insurance company is coming through for you. Let us know when you actually get the check, oK?

Well, it was too good to be true. Travel Insured International paid me less than I thought they should. For some reason that I can't understand, they are not reimbursing me for the non-refundable return ticket from Tahiti to SFO that cost $1040 and was unusable. They did pay for the $775 to fly us from Maui back home. They also didn't pay for the $55 taxi fare from the ship to the Maui airport.

They are saying that their policy states that for Trip Interruption they only pay for any unused prepaid expenses and return air. They did pay for the return air but not the air portion that was a non-refundable pre-paid expense. They also paid for the unused cruise days. Maybe it is me not understanding this?

Frank, did you dispute the amount reimbursed to you? Is there any update to the story?
