Default Ft Lauderdale hotels near the port

We will be leaving from Ft Lauderdale for a Western Carribbean cruise in May 2004. . We will be flying in from the San Francisco bay area the night before. Can anyone name some hotels I should stay at, that is convenient and either has taxi or a shuttle to the port?

thanks.

Embassy Suites on 17th Street has complimentary shuttle from the airport to the hotel, full breakfast the next morning and complimentary shuttle to the pier. Got mine through Hotwire for $64 (1/3 the cost shown on their site).

I also got Embassy Suites through Hotwire for $60 for my December cruise. On Embassey Suites own web sight they wanted $179 a night. A big savings through Hotwire.

Be sure you check out www.biddingfortravel.com (at I least I think that's the one I used or maybe www.biddingfun.com) which will give you tips on how to choose so you'll get Embassy Suites and not some other hotel like Amerisuites which people say is not as good.

We did the same and used www.biddingfun.com for all the info we needed to place our bid on priceline. We used to stay at the Amerisuites but it has really gotten run down lately. And for about the same price, Embassy is a much nicer property.
The only thing that we have found that Amerisuites offers that Embassy does not is free parking for the week if you happen to be driving in. Otherwise, it will always be the Embassy for us. Best of luck on your bidding.
