Default New To Princess. Which Ship?

I have cruised Holland America 2 times and Royal Caribbean 9 times. I enjoy cruising the Caribbean and, obviously, I like RCI, but am thinking about Princess Cruise. Can anyone tell me about the line, average age of passengers, food, entertainment, service? Also, please tell which ship or ships you prefer. Thanks for the input.

I love the Star Princess of the three Princess ships we've experienced. Although the exterior is fugly, the entire ship is extremely well run. The entertainment is excellent most of the time. The Sabatini's "at sea" brunch is amazing and a bargain when you factor in the never ending Chandon champagne.

Ages are a huge cross section. I hope this helps.

Sailed both Star and Royal. Both ships are great, crew nice, food good and plentiful. Alot more to do on the Star since she is a larger, newer ship. Royal smaller so you tend to" get to know " more fellow passangers, but lessspace for activeies..ie one show lounge..fewer bars. One dining room plus the lido..last time I salied only the formal sittings or the Lido/pizza palor.

I always pick a destination then see which ship is going there..smaller ships are better for some of the more unsual itineaiers.

Happy Cruising

We've been on the Golden (2x), Grand and Coral Princess and preferred the Golden & Grand class ships.

The Coral was a beautiful ship, but there were things we didn't like:
No Disco
Aft pool is the children's pool (is Adult pool on Golden/Grand)
the pools were very deep on Coral (over 6') - I like to be able to touch bottom!
lots of vibration in the aft end (as of March 2003 anyway)

Not bad enough to prevent me from cruising it again, but it wasn't my favorite.

Just to be fair, the good things about the Coral:
Very classy decor
The promenade deck wraps around on one deck (Grand class has steps at the bow and it wraps around and steps down on the other side).
Better layout of the Horizon Court
The lounge with the rotating stages!

The cabins are almost identical in layout from one ship to another in the same categories (BA, BB). Service was always excellent, food was great on all three ships.

Choosing is the hardest part!!!

If you have sailed the Voyager class ships on RCL then you would like the Grand Class ships of Princess. If you like something a bit smaller than the Grand class ships then the smaller Sea, Sun, Dawn Princess ships might be to you liking, - we sailed the Sea Princess and loved her, big ship(not huge) but it has a small ship feeling, very easy to get around. All ages on 7 day Caribbean cruises, more kids on the Grand Class ships, especially during school breaks, Princess does limit the amount of kids allowed.

The Sea Princess is no longer part of Princess' fleet.

My wife and I were fortunate to be able to do the last cruise of Sea Princess in the southern carib. last march. We did a back to back on her last March. After that she was turned over to P&O and doing sailings in europe.

Sea Princess was our first cruise ship and we were sorry to see it go. I personally like the smaller class ships due to it seems more personal and intimate. We are doing the new Diamond Princess inaugural cruise in March and are really looking forward to it.

Happy sailing,
Mike
