We're looking forward to our first cruise the end of July... Sapphire to Alaska.
Have booked some nifty, but costly excursions and want to watch for unexpected spending during the cruise. Things like the photos, casino and alcoholic beverages
are obvious, but where are some of the "hidden charges" I need to be aware of?
Or will there be no question I will know when something incurs an extra charge? I'm thinking of things like the dining rooms, movie theaters or anything you can alert me
to be aware of, so I am not shocked by a bigger than expected bill I at the end of my cruise. Thanks!!
Hi Terbo,
There is also an extra charge for any of their alternative restaurants onboard. If you should order room service, its customary to tip the person who delivers it a few bucks and tips for your excursion drivers, etc.
there are no "hidden charges" the rule is simple, if you are asked for your card and you sign for it, you will pay for it. You will pay extra to dine in the speciality restaurants, if you order from room service and purchase soda, bottled water or alcohol you will be charged for that. If you use any spa services, some specialized gym services and classess charge you a fee, anything you purchase in any of the stores
There are many, many ways to spend money. Art auctions is a big one for some folks. Obviously the shops are board are there to sell you things. The internet cafe is also I potential big one at 35 cents per minute. Not uncommon to hear of $200 internet bills. And all things others have said - booze, spa, specialty dining, pictures, bottled water, sodas, etc.
