Default Ft Lauderdale question

Sailing on Coral on 4/11/04 to Panama Canal. Staying at the Doubletree the night before. Just found a great airfare arriving late Friday night. Have all day Saturday in Ft Lauderdale and then sail on Sunday. I want to know if there is enough to do in Ft Lauderdale to justify staying additional night on Friday night, so I can get the cheaper air or just arrive on the same flight on Saturday evening, have dinner and get on the ship the next morning.

I also live in Ft. Lauderdale. The beach is beautiful, and plenty of great shopping and dining in the surrounding areas. Enjoy!

I live in ft lauderdale.
There;s plenty to do in the beach area for several days.
If you're staying at the doubletree on 17th St you're a short taxi away from the action
If you're at the Doubletree on the ocean, you're right there.
Enjoy
PS - My husband and I were on the Grand Princess in 2001 - fabulous ship.

Take the water taxi; go to the beach, shop, etc. Plenty to do in FLL for that much time before the cruise!

If you love to shop, make time for the Sawgrass Mall. It's an outlet mall. The actual inside of the mall is one mile walking distance. Even knowing which stores are worth the time, it still takes me at least 6 hours to shop it. (I live across the state in Fort Myers). I think it may be the largest outlet mall in the United States (please don't yell at me if I am wrong!!!)

Look it up online for a list of shops. It's worth the time!!!!

I'd love the extra day, if just for relaxation.

Does anyone know what car fare costs from the airport to the ship? Will the cab driver know where the ship is docked?
Thanks

We never take ship transfers from FLL to Port Everglades. It is a 7 minute taxi ride point to point and costs about $10.00. The taxi drivers make this trip hundreds of times every day. It is a breeze. Step out the airport door and get in a cab. They will drop you right at port side. Sme thing in reverse too. Enjoy!

One other question. Is there a location close to the ship for shopping?
