Just looking at the tours that are offered in St Maarten, I see that the 4x4 jeep tour only says it's available until April. Does anyone know if they offer that tour in June? Looks like it would be alot of fun.
I've been to St. Maarten many times, and can't figure out exactly where a 4X4 jeep tour would even go. The salt flats? That 4X4 "tour" will be very short. St. Maarten/Martin is very small, and the few roads are narrow and hilly. A taxi ride from Phillipsburg to Marigot is a "4X4" adventure in itself - but in a taxi/van - for a whole lot cheaper. If I were you, I wouldn't do it. I'm a beach person, and always take a taxi to Orient Beach on the French side. I give the taxi driver a couple of dollars and ask him to pick me up at a certain time, and tell him where on the beach I'll be. Always works. They're very good about doing that because St. Maarten is NOT a US island. Taxi drivers on St. Thomas...well, that's another story.
How do they explain the 4x4 excursion. What is it you would like to do in SXM.
We are there every year and depending on your lifestyle, Orient Beach is C/O.
Now the regulars are always accusing the "cruisers" of coming to OB to gawk
at them. I think it is a riot. Some do try and take pictures, which makes me wonder
what they may be taking pics of on the ship ()
Anyway, I am not quite sure what a 4X4 excursion would be. Will be glad to help
if you would like some ideas. One of the fun places is the Sunset Beach Bar which is near the airport (quite near) and you can have lunch there and watch the planes come in right over your head (big ones and small ones) and then watch the crazies stand behind the big one and get blown by the engine wash. There is a public beach there also and a Casino near by.
