Default When is the Optimal Time to Arrive at Port to Board

I will be sailing on the May 15th Caribbean Princess out of Fort Lauderdale. They indicate that boarding begins at 12 and the ship leaves at 5 pm. We will be arriving a day ahead of time, so we have flexibility of when we show up at the port terminal. What in you experience is the optimal time to arrive at the Port to save overall time waiting to get on the ship? I've heard that even though they advertise boarding starts at 12 that many get on the ship well before then.

I'm curious to hear everyone's experiences. thanks in advance for your help!!!

Can't wait to cruise!!!

We usually arrive at the ship around11:30am. I've never experienced more than a few people in line. Once you get through the check-out, they might be letting people directly onto the ship. Or you may have to wait in the lounge for a few minutes. By noon, we have usually drop stuff off at the cabin and are looking for lunch.

We sailed on the Grand Princes on the 8th of February. The only shuttle that was available from our hotel was at 2pm, so we arrived at Port Everglades around 2:30pm. I was a little worried thinking that it might be a little late to arrive, but check-in went very smoothly and we were checked in very quickly. Our ship set sail at 5pm also. We had enough time to do a quick tour of the ship before we sailed. After we set sail we went to our cabin and our luggage was waiting for us..

Have a great cruise!

We try to get there an hour or so before boarding time. Princess is very efficient in the whole process. We process in then go to lunch, grab a chair and enjoy the pool. In no time your bags are at your door so you can unpack at your leisure and get ready for dinner. If you are an anytime diner a suggestion.. if you find a good server stick with him/her. Ask the maitre'd to reserve the table for you on a nightly basis. You'll be surprised at how great the service is. (p.s don't forget a nice tip)

We found that Princess manages lines very well. We never had to wait long in any line the whole cruise. The longest wait we had was waiting for customs to allow everyone to start embarking.
