My fiance and I are thinking of taking a seven night cruise on the Golden Princess for our honeymoon ... I love RCCL, but we have heard such great things about Princess, and they have more options for our sail date. We just have a few questions for anybody who may be able to/feel inclined to help us out:
1) I noticed the dress code for the formal nights say dark suits, but he has mostly lighter suits ... will that work, or do we need to plan on the more casual option on the formal evenings? Also, what is the more casual option?
2) We were very excited to learn that sushi is sometimes available on one of the buffets ... has anyone tried it on the Princess ships? What did you think?
3) Anyone care to review the night club music? We are not overly picky, but I had a terrible experience on Carnival (never again!) and part of it was the fact that the DJ refused to play anything that was not on the top 40 charts in the last six months, which meant we danced to the same eight songs every night.
First off congratulations! You will love the Golden- we sailed on her 2/14/04.
As for the dress code - a dark suit is "traditional" but your fiancee will be fine in light colored suit ( pick the darkest color for formal night) the only casual food option is the Horizon Court buffet or room service. Formal night is an experience not to be missed.
Music - Skywalker's Disco - seemed to be more techno-funk style but there were "theme night" where they played music from the 50's on up. The techno stuff started around 11pm. Lots of choices in the bars - Explorer's Lounge has the "headliners" for entertainment - Wheelhouse Bar - our favorite place to hang out - smaller, more intimate usually with a really good easy listening and dancing band. Princess Theatre - show theatre- loved the show "Words and Music" If you love broadway show tunes its a really good show. Always a lively island band by the pool during lunch hours.
I am not a sushi fan but it is served during lunch at Horizon Court buffet.
Any more questions, fire away!
