Do the elevators on Princess ships have British accents? I ask because the only other cruise I was on was Royal Caribbean and for some reason I thought it was neat that the voice on the elevator had a British accent. Don't ask me why, I don't know, I just thought it was neat.
My wife and I were on the Voyager of the Seas last summer. The elevator spoke the deck numbers with a British accent, for example: "Deck Eleven...Going Down"
Like I said, I can't explain, I just thought it was pretty neat.
I don't recall an accent. It was a pleasant woman's voice. What I recall, and it always made me chuckle, was when she said "Emerald," it always sounded like "Emeril." What bugs me is the fact that decks have both names and numbers. When you get in the elevator, you have to press a number, but the floors are announced by name. And to select your floor, you have to know the corresponding number. Not a big deal, and there is a large legend above the door inside the elevator.
The Golden and Grand have the speaking elevators. Just got off the Golden. It sounded like the same voice as on the Grand. The accent seemed American, but the pronunication was a little off.
We'll be listening for the voice when we sail on the Caribbean Princess the week of Sept.18. My husband said there was a female voice on the Golden. I vaguely remember it,but didn't pick up a distinct accent. Lynne
I'll listen VERY carefully this time. The good news is that I even remember that it was a female voice! . Spending my formative years in Canada,I was surrounded by British accents/Canadian so I'll have my ears peeled. I do remember that it was pleasant voice, though. Lynne
Yes, I do remember "A-lo-ha",come to think of it. We were on Aloha Deck-303- when we were on the Golden. That was a wonderful cruise. If we could get that cabin each time we'd be in "high heaven". Lynne
