Default iced tea

Can anyone who has previously sailed with Princess tell me how the iced tea is? I have sailed several times with Carnival and once with Royal Caribbean and Holland America and remember that they used to serve fresh brewed tea. My last cruise I noticed that Carnival had switched to an undrinkable fountain tea. It isn't a huge concern, I was just curious. Thanks for any answers...

Good question! You can't mess w/ a Southerner's Iced Tea.

The tea was very strong. We would get 2 glasses - one of tea and one of water then mix them. With a lot of sugar, it then tasted "sorta" like the iced tea we drink here in the South.

Linda, Thank You for the response; It's sometimes the little things that can help "make" a cruise! :-) I would obviously enjoy fresh brewed tea (my family is from the south so I know what tea is supposed to taste like) but as on any cruise, the lack of it won't be enough to ruin my vacation! We are booked on the Caribbean Princess in October and can't wait to see the new ship. It will be our first experience with Princess and we're very excited!

I drink a lot of ice tea and the Princess tea seems to be the same type of fountain tea that you referred to on Carnival. It is definitely not fresh brewed, but I think it's OK. They have cut lemons nearby and sugar for those who like it sweet. It is nothing to write home about but it is always available and free.

The iced tea on Princess is fine, nothing great, your basic fountain iced tea. Its refreshing over ice with a slice of fresh lemon and some sugar.

I just got off of the Island Princess yesterday. The iced tea is nasty. They will give you hot water and tea bags though. I guess you could make your own?? I just stuck with wine or Diet Coke. Hope this helps!

Hi tc. The tea on princess is instant, mixed in the fountain. So is the coffee. Coffee is prepared from a syrup, I have seen them reload the milkcarton sized syrup cartons more than once. The only place we found real brewed coffee in the atriam bar. We have cruised 18 times on most of the princess fleet including the grand and star. Tea in the dining room is served with little ice, of course the tea in windjammer is self serve. We still prefer princess and have two more already booked. JIM

Well, at least I'm not going to get my hopes up about the iced tea now... lol

A quick question regarding the coffee in the atrium bar -- is it free there, or is that like a coffee bar? We'll be on the Grand for the first time next March, and we're all big coffee drinkers. Thanks!

If the tea is the same as on Carnival it isn't all that bad, not the best but will do in a pinch. I do have a question for those that have been on Princess..... on our last Carnival trip they had these plastic cups that held about two swigs of liquid in the food court area (coffee cup size with ice = two swigs). Do they have the same cups on Princess?

I think they had 2 sizes, the one you mentioned and large ones. You sort of had to look to find them.

tea is tea coffee is coffee, if it is to strong to suit your tastes, put some water in it...these type of beverages are just like food, subjective to a persons opinion and tastes and there is no right or wrong.

Just because it doesn't suit your 'likes' doesn't mean it isn't good.

I think that most lines use the syrup coffee. I usually frequent the alternative coffee bars for the real thing. The syrup coffee is OK with breakfast, but I gotta tell ya...in the late afternoon, I need my latte'!
