Default Securing valuables/documents while at the beach

We're cruising later this fall and plan on hitting the beach at St. Thomas, St. Marteen, and Princess Cays. When going ashore, do we need to take our passports and/or other ID; Also, while at the beach, are there places to secure those documents, wallets, cameras, etc?

The only "valuable" documents that u need are your cruise cards. No need to bring your passports.

Happy sailing,

You will have a safe in your room, with plenty of room for your "stuff". As Sea Angel sez, the only thing you need to take ashore are your cruise cards. You'll probably want your camera with you, and depending on what beach, island etc., maybe a few dollars, but the safe has always been O.K., with no problems noted. Have Fun!

I take a waterproof fanny pack (purchased at REI) that I can put my wallet and camera in when swimming or snorkeling. It works very well, and I never have to worry about anyone stealing anything but my towel!

all of the beaches also have lockers that you can rent to store anything. You do not need your passport, lock it in your safe in your stateroom. Just bring enough cash to cover cab fare, lunch and small souveniors, put all large ticket purchases on your credit card.
FYI - on Princess Cays the local vendors and stores are independant and you cannot use your sign and sail cards here, cash or charge.
