Can you order just cocktails from room service? Might be something some of us would do when getting dressed for the night time activities. If so, is the 15% tip added on the bar bill or must you tip seperately?
Ordering a cocktail from room service could take about 30 min or more, it could be kind of watery when you get it. Better to order your own bottle and mix from room serice. Check the info in your cabin. You can order a liter bottle and mix that could last the entire trip, unless you imbibe more as I do. Room service does not include gratuity, so you need to tip the server. I always reguest the large ice bucket from the room steward and put in the frig. Enjoy your cruise.
Ordering just cocktails from room service can be a bit of an inconvenince, it will take longer to get just a couple of drinks than it would to get a meal. You would be better off going to the bar getting your drinks and bringing them back to your room, or ordering a bottle of your favorite liquor and mixers from the special services menu so that you could have a drink whenever you wanted it.
The 15% gratuity that is automatically added to your bar bill doesn't apply to the server who delivers your drinks.
It looks like room service for cocktails is not the best option. From your answers, you would have to pay a double tip. One to the waiter delivering plus the 15% added by the bartender. Just wasn't sure how this would work. Since this is something we might do only once or twice, I would also skip purchasing a liquor set up for the cabin. We are light drinkers and will just wait for a more opportune time. Thanks for your help.
