Default Jacket for formal dining

I am going on the Panama Canal Cruise in the New Year and have chosen Princess because of its relatively relaxed nature compared to some of the other cruise lines. As I wear formal business attire every day I look to some relief from formality during my holidays and plan to wear dark slacks with a light blue jacket, matching shirt and tie during the formal dinners. Will I look out of place?

Not at all. You'll see some men wearing tuxedos, some in suits, and others in jackets and slacks. Wear what makes you comfortable, as long as you wear a white shirt and tie.
I no doubt will be flamed for this, but, gee, you are on a vacation for which you've paid a goodly price! :-)
My husband wears a dark blue jacket and grey slacks, and has never felt out of place. You'll find many wearing the same as you. No matter what anyone says, remember these words: Go for it!

Correction about the white shirt. Your matching shirt and tie will be just fine! :-)

For New Year's Eve I believe you'll find people dressed more formally... but one never knows.
Heck on our just completed Diamond Princess cruise there were people wearing shorts to dinner in the Steak House.

Looked odd, but didn't change the taste of my Prime Rib any <G>
