Princess Cays

Does anyone know if Princess Cays sustained severe damage from Hurricane Frances?? We will be on the Carribean Princess in a couple of weeks!! Hoping the tropics clear out after Ivan.

I read on another board that it has been destroyed. I will be missing it on my cruise too.

I also heard that it was destroyed. They told the last ship that they were the last to see it before it was destroyed. I am on the CP in three weeks, I wonder what the plan will be instead.

Oh no, it was one of our favorite stops. I wonder if they will be able to rebuild the beaches, or if they will have to find another spot!

When are you on the caribbean princess? We are booked for September 18 if nothing happens in the meantime with all these storms..........

I phoned Princess this afternoon to see if I could get news regarding Princess Cays. The lady I spoke with wanted to know why I thought there would something wrong out there!! duh----She put me on hold to find out if someone else might know. She said as of now there are no plans of change in Sept 18 itinerary. We'll see the closer the time comes!!

I called princess the lady i spoke with said princess cays was distroyed and that our itenary would be changed she didnt know as of then what it would be but that there would be no stop at princess cays my guess an extra day at sea

When you say destroyed.. what does destroyed mean? What was there to be destroyed other than the beaches? I have never been, but that is one of our stops on our Star Princess cruise on Nov 7.

I am hoping Ivan stays away, I don't want to weather another hurricane this month! We are just leaving our boards up on our windows until it makes up its mind.

More essential than the few stuctures at Princess Cay was the piers where the ship's tenders put in to transfer the passengers from the ship. With them significantly damaged or destroyed it would be virtually impossible and dangerous to try and bring passengers ashore.

I just spoke with Princess and they said that they had not gotten any confirmation that there was any damage to anything. But you know how it is sometimes the last to know is the ones who should have known first.

They probably don't have electricity back yet...

I just talked Princess Cruise Lines and they said that no one has been to Princess Cay for about a week. So they really are not sure how it stood up to the hurricanes.
I will be sailing 9/25 , I hope all of these hurricanes are gone by then.

We're another group going on the 9/25 cruise. Maybe if we all think "positive thoughts" we can "will" away the hurricanes. The only ones I want to see are in a glass.

I'm on the 9/18 Caribbean Princess with Fig414 and James and Rob and Theresa and I've heard through another site that Princess Cays was destroyed. If it was, I'm not surprised with the Bahamas being hit hard for several days over the private beach.
Ivan now seems to be headed toward ports in the Southern Caribbean, like Aruba, if it makes it there. South Florida is still within the cone if it turns more northeasterly. I just hope we can get out of town before that happens so the port doesn't close on us! Lynne
