Hi Guys,
I also saw that news somewhere. Somehow, when I saw that the Bahamas were being battered 3-4 days in a row, that came as no surprise.
Billy, on my very first cruise to the Western Caribbean, the seas were too rough to tender in to the Princess Cays, so we sailed until we reached Jamaica, on Tuesday! (From Sat. evening). There was so much to do, I didn't really notice it much. But, I was glad to see real land after all that! . I don't know how many extra islands there are to stop at in the Eastern Itinerary that would keep us on schedule.
I will be on the Caribbean Princess with James and Rob for the Sept. 18 cruise, so we're hoping for a good week by then. Lynne

Maybe they will stop at Virgin Gorda or St Lucia or Tortola. Those would be nice. I'm with ya, I like the sea days but two ports is one to shy! Hopefully, IMHO, they will replace Princess Cays.

They may replace Princess Cays with a stop at Nassau or Freeport.........has been done in the past when Princess Cays was damaged by a hurricane. That went on for a few weeks until all was repaired. From what I have heard and seen, it may be a bit longer than that this time around.....wind damage, wave damage, beach erosion and flooding are horrendous all through the Bahamas (they got it worse than Florida.)

I just heard that Princess Cay was totally destroyed and that Princess has decided not to rebuild. They will arrange for an additional at sea day or a stop at Miami before Port Everglades.

Oh no, not rebuild Princess Cays , that was one of our favorite stops!! And I am sorry but Nassua is just not part of the Caribbean to me, and I know that Miami sure as heck isn;t either.
This just reminds me why we will never( and have never) booked a cruise during Hurricane season, it may be slightly cheaper , but who knows where you'll end up!( yes I know changes can happen anytime, but lets face it hurricane season is cheaper for a reason!

Are you saying that Princess will never rebuild Princess Cays? That doesn't seem possible since it is such a big part of their cruises.

I'm not sure what's really going on with Princess Cays at this point! I just called Princess and they said according to their itinerary, the cruise that is leaving Sept.25, still has Princess Cays listed. The man I talked to said he had no idea why I would think we wouldn't be going there. Do they know what they're doing at that office? I can't imagine anyone working for Princess Cruiselines being that oblivious to what's going on. I basically needed other cruise information and just threw that one in as a side question. Maybe I should have left well enough alone.

Received this little bit of information from Cruise News Daily on 9/14......looks like it will be awhile before anyone gets to Princess Cays again......................

And speaking of Frances, there's one more bit of bad
news. Yesterday, we told you about the cruise lines'
plans for getting their private islands back in shape,
and Princess was hoping to go back to Princess Cays in
two weeks. Now that their own people have actually been
to the facility, they say that's not going to happen.
They are not now planning to return for about six weeks,
possibly more.
