Just returned from our first cruise. Crusie started in Long Beach and ended in Ft. Lauderdale. After a 2 hour wait in line to board the trip was great. As i have no other to compare to i have to say this was absolutly fabulous. We had a balcony room. Space was ok for us.
can't say enough about Maria our room steward. She was great. From taking laundry to making towell designs most nights for us. Never grumpy.
Our head waiter was also great, Sabastin and Valetine were always near by for needed
food and drinks. service fast and timely. And the food was great. We also ate at the buffet, also good food and plenty of it. The drink card was good for me. It did save some money.
Golf simulator only open between 6pm and 8 pm, most people eat at that time.
Also, in casino, there is a sign that says, "no cigars and pips", how ever you walk in and there's cigeratte smoke all over. Does that make any sence?
There was plenty to do. The shows were to late for us. But we did see a few good movies. Did not feel crowded at all. We were never bored. There was always something going on.
Will cruise again.
We were also on that cruise. We have been on numerous cruises before this and almost all of them Princess. I am glad you enjoyed your first cruise and are planning on doing it again. We also enjoyed it - as always our room steward and dining room wait staff and bar service people were absolutely outstanding. However, I must say of all the Princess cruises we have taken this one would rate last as far as entertainment and the Cruise Director and his staff. You said you didn't see too many of the shows - but I must say, you didn't miss much. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the worst) I would rate the entertainment as a 4. I can't ever recall having a Seminar on Retirement/Finance Planning as an evening entertainment option before. The only really good show was the broadway type show. Luckily, we really enjoy time at sea and just relaxing and of course the Canal transit was fabulous. Again, I still love Princess and will continue sailing with them as always - but can't help mentioning our disappointment in the entertainment. I also thought it was quite interesting that after 12 days onboard and helping ourselves at the buffet every morning - suddenly, someone decided we needed to be served our portions by the staff. I couldn't even get my own butter without asking a member of the staff to reach in and put it on my plate - very bizarre - I'm very curious to know what caused that change.
Carol I am glad you had a good time on your first cruise . We are on the dawn in December for our first ever cruise also. Any heads up item you can let me know about being a first time cruiser on the dawn. We have also got a balcony on the Baja deck room 632. Does anyone know how often the shows change on the ships
