Has anyone cruised Alaska the end of May? We are planning on leaving May 30 for a 7 night. I know the temps can vary greatly from year to year, but what was your experience? Rainy, Warm, Cold, Very Cold, etc. Anything to help plan and anticipate packing needs. Thanks!
We went the last of May 2 years ago & had three 70+ degree days.....a bit od showers in Skagway but the rest of the cruise was great.....but then you never know with Alaska. But we are going the middle of May this year
We were on the first cruise of the year to Alaska, mid May, and the weather was glorious! The only rain was showers as we were leaving Vancouver. It was dry, and sweatshirt/windbreaker weather everywhere EXCEPT Glacier Bay. The day that we cruised Glacier Bay, we needed our winter jackets, hats and GLOVES! It was freezing cold! It was also beautiful, and one of our favorite memories.
Our best clue for dressing for Alaska is to bring layers...........that way you will be ready for anything! If you are going to Glacier Bay, do bring a hat and gloves..........you will want to spend some time on deck. Oh, by the way, people DID dress for formal night..........some things I read said they didn't, but they did! Only difference from any other cruise was that the pools did not seem to get much use, but the hot tubs did.
Hope you have a wonderful cruise!
