We are experienced cruisers and are trying to decide between the Norwegian Jewel or Star Princess for next January. I have posted this on another board but haven't gotten a response yet. The last two years we did RCCL but need a change. In the past we have always liked Celebrity and Princess, especially the food. We did Norwegian 10 years ago and really thought that the food was not as good as other lines. Any info on the main dining room food or other areas would be appreciated.
While I have not tried NCL, my t/a whom I trust implicitly - although she is a big Princess fan - said NCL is one cruise line she would never ever recommend booking on. She w ouldn't even give away a cruise on NCL.
On the other hand, I have friends who look for the cheapest cruises, and LOVE NCL, and sail with them exclusively. They take inside cabins, love the dancing (apparently there's a lot of opportunity for dancing), and I know they are not very particular about the food.
From my research, NCL does have very small cabins. It might be a time to try a balcony.
Princess without a doubt. There you know you will be getting a good product. From what I've been told by a travel agent if you stick to the newer NCL not NCL America ships you will be fine. But do you want to be "fine" or do you want to have a fantastic, memorable trip? I have not sailed NCL recently but when we did the Dawn a few years ago we thought the food was the worst of our 7 other cruises.
Something is really wrong with NCL. I would stay away. Princess is always consistent and they are good at what they do. I am about to take my 19th cruise on Princess. I will be on the Coral this April 27th, and I am excited. email@example.com
