I keep hearing about getting tender tickets in certain lounges, etc from the Grand. We are sailing in a few weeks, and would love any suggestions as to the best way to score an early tender ticket, especially in Costa Maya and Cayman. Have cruised RCCL in the the past, and you would just go down to the gangway and board the tenders, no problems. We have 3 kids and want to make the most of the stops with minumum wait time. Thanks in advance!
sailed the grand twice, they always announce what time they would start passing out tender tickets.we always go to the lounge 30 minutes before hand and wait.that does not mean that there is still not a mad dash to the person passing out tickets.even when we did not get the first couple of tenders we still had no more then a 30 minute wait after the tenders started running.
We were on the 1/22 Grand sailing. For our cruise we picked up tickets in the Explorer lounge. They gave out any number of tickets to one person - for Belize I picked up 8 for our group. I went down at 5:45am to get in line (about 5th) for Belize - we arrived at 6:30am. We got on the first tender after the one for the passengers booked on cruise tours. For Grand Cayman, I went about 45 minutes early. That was later in the day and much more crowded. Was on tender ticket 3. You do not need tender tickets for Costa Maya. Just a long walk on pier to beach. I had checked with the tour desk the day before to see when tickets would be given out.
The above poster is correct. They will announce which lounge you can get tender tickets in. Only one person needs to be present to get tickets so have the rest of your group waiting at one of the tables in that lounge or a close by one playing cards/dice/etc. You don't really have to wait in a line the whole time either. Get there about 15 minutes before they are to hand out and stand close to the stage. This is where they will be and you can get right in line once they say they are ready. We always got on the first or second tender doing this. Once they start, the tickets are handed out very quickly. If you are one of the first three tenders your wait will only be about 30 minutes after that in a mass of people in the stairway. For your kids sake, you may just want to hang back an hour and let the rush go by. At that point you won't even need a ticket and you can go right down and get onboard.
